Volunteering
A considerable part of my time I dedicate to volunteering, both at my Alma Mater and our community. One of my favourite opportunities has been the Bridges Program at the University of Alberta. The objective of this program is to raise global awareness among Albertans by educating the community through engaging, focused, and public-oriented presentations. As a Bridges volunteer I presented to different age groups that had different cultural, professional, and educational backgrounds. I volunteered with Bridges for four years and eventually grew to contribute to training of new Bridges speakers. Volunteering with Bridges sharpened my leadership, interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
I also volunteered as an Open House leader promoting the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies at the University of Alberta.
Additionally, I enjoyed being a Cultural Attaché at the Festival of Teaching, University of Alberta. This yearly event is intended to celebrate outstanding achievements in teaching.
Finally, I showed leadership in volunteering for Graduate Students' Association at the University of Alberta where I contributed to the success of two orientation programs for new Canadian and international students.
